AWADIFO OLGA KILI is our WOMAWORDS representative for young women and girls and  represents Uganda in #WOMAWORDS LITERARY PRESS Hall of Fame. A  Youthful Literary, genius.A dedicated and widely published writer poet attending her Law studies at a University in Uganda, African land of great political history, cultural anthropology and a haven of literary arts doyens.   This installment features Poet Awadifo Olga Kilis Profile and her unique set of poems touching on the hot bun subject matter, MENSTRUATION. While this set of candid and bold verses require brave readership, Kili celebrates womanhood and uses her sharpened weapon, her pen to smash stigma and discrimination . She then spiritedly flexes her poetic muscle and dare every Goliath set to discriminate  girls and women  on periods.  Her poetry is candid and her verses are thought provoking, she pushes her spear yonder by saying that  periods reflect purity and it is a blessing from Almighty God . Mind boggling poesy.  Awadifo Kilis poems are trendsetting and are clearing our path towards the # DaughtersoftheEarthProject t Her set of poems including these titles. WOMAWORDS is greatly excited to see heads rolling on this our digital thicket. Yes , we yearn to promote dialogue , exchange of ideas , scholarship , freedom of expression  and peace.  Aluta Continua,  #WOMAWORDS eDitor-Mbizo CHIRASHA.

 HELLO PERIODS.

The moon just nicely appeared
Opening the doors of the uterus.

Dear Uterus, about one lunar month
From puberty, you shed your lining

As blood stains on my bed sheets
I see a flower into an eerie metaphor.

Externally, I express this cute feeling
And internally I experience the beauty.

As I perform this menstrual ritual
It inherently remains poetic to me.

Like a rhyme scheme, equal, steady
My body pushes onward and inward.

I praise my periods with sanitary pads
I say HELLO to my periods without pretense,

With beautiful shiny ribbons I crown
My uterus for other periods again.

FEMININE STORY

Cool breeze gently blows my styled hair

And I tuck it behind my ears.

Who knows who exactly I am?

I am woman, bearer of life.

I proclaim my identity as female

When I smell my blood in nature’s will.

With cramping stomach enough to faint,

I drip from my womb; I bleed for life.

With a tired soul, I bleed all day and night

Like raindrops from an angry cloud.

Severe pain, muscle cramps ,I undergo

Iced by mood swings against my will.

Yes, I can bleed and call me impure.

But see this, my blood my life.

My cramps and pains are mine

And my periods God are god given.

So I’ll sleep calmly like a sheep

For this won’t take me to my tomb.

DAUGHTERS OF EVE

Dear daughters of Eve,

In celebration of our uterus,

We receive our womanhood stamp

That comes with menses.

We receive our bundle of joy,

Moments to attend to self

And blessings of an inner process.

In celebration of our uterus,

The souls of the women we are,

We paint our EARTH with new colors,

We sign notes with our white cloths.

With my blood of that is pure

Like a banquet of English roses.

So, I rejoice like an Angel

For another month of life and purity
