TRACY YVONNE BREAZILE ‘s double  edged  razor sharp cutting   poesy scythes  against weeds of  earthly stereotypes of  political barbarism  . Her poetry of resistance burns gluttonous fingers of despots and oil guzzling throats of mongering warlords.  Her protest lines are steely bolt nut strong and resilient. Unsparingly ,the razor sharp tip of her poetic machete  slice through  Africa  in quest  for the freedom of her earth mates “Zimbabweans” ,writhing  under the heavy yoke of unbridled corruption as they suffocate from toxic , choking   command politics .  Breazile’s poetry is written and presented through the eye of a master of satire and paradox. She is an undying spiritual  combatant and artistic  soldier  yearning for morsels of peace and  bread crumbs of freedom , on this earth now a heap of bullet shells  and dustbin of broken souls . The Poet opens the Great Year of 2020 with a verse of resilience, MASTER KEY with grey streaks of protest and yellow traces of rebuke, MASTER KEY. Tracy Yvonne Breazile is a Mentor in Residence of the Zimbabwe We Want Poetry Campaign Projects  –Brave Voices Poetry Journal , Word Guerrillas Café and WOMAWORDS Literary Press– (by WOMAWORDS CHIEF EDITOR).

Gather around the pedestal that I built for you,
Just below your majestically decorated castle,
Guarded closely with your golden keys,
And those in deluge with sister slander,
Absence of justice in your courts of chaos,
Comes the fury of prejudice, pride, and endless envy,
Sly manipulation lies pretending purpose,
Much as your judgement deems worthy,
I falter to the ground and my vision is blurry,
Dealing in doubt and uncertainty,
I gather my confusion and stutter my truths,
As you unleash your lightning bolt into the thicket,
Crashing into the night with a raging fire,
I dance with the embers ‘till morning light,
While you devise an avalanche to extinguish the fire,
You dropped your mask and it tumbled to the ground,
In the dust of the avalanche, beneath the rubble of your pedestal,
I will leave you there to mind your mazes,
Thank you for the lessons in pride, greed and endless envy,
But I have much more to learn,
I will be riding the winds of hope to better days,
Searching for the unconditional love,
That will put an end to your war on peace,
In that fire, I forged myself a master key of resiliency.

Debased bags of worthless paper
Crumpled under the broken neon sign
Can’t buy a ticket to paradise

With worthless coins clanking
Rendered useless to the changes
Debased bags of worthless paper

Changing faces to print over print
Devalue the basis of the wages
Can’t find a ticket to paradise

Might be deadly to protest
Bags of broken legal tender
Debased bags of worthless paper

Gather round the tank tracks
Pluck the cotton former treasure
That could not buy a ticket to paradise

Pay the toll with pretending
Hold the door under the neon sign
Can’t buy a ticket to paradise
With debased bags of worthless paper

My brothers and me come from over that way
Where peace is shattered into pieces
And no man will ever win
And hide that indifference of opinion

Where peace’s shattered into pieces
And hope is a refugee
With that silence that speaks
In the battle of indifference

And hope is an outcast
That shatters peace into pieces
And silence that speaks
Until voices with reason are heard

In that place that our fathers dreamed
When voices with reason are heard
Peace and Progress will win
That peace that shattered into pieces

And me and my brothers will lead you this way.

That stolen flame of the voices cryin’ freedom
Causin’ shattered voices
With clouds of chaos pretending purpose
And false doctrines dictate
Shallow hopes that embrace
Talk of freedom and feelin’ secure

In the shadows linger shards of hauntin’ security
Folks with two faces and false freedoms
Cryin’ loud from maddened minds and maddened voices
And an impasse point of purpose
Sling slogans of false secure dictates
And passing fancy lending false embrace

To the dreamers of wanderin’ embraces
And holdin’ hopes and huntin’ security
Calling to the winds with their dreams of freedoms
And sing songs of dreaming voices
Of the greater good and aim the purpose
Toward the echoes of conscious dictates

Partner freedoms with reasonable dictates
Offer their brethren kind embraces
Sing new songs of solid security
And carry dreams of fairness and freedom
Cause to pen truths and sound their voices
And call them to the grand purpose

And find that common purpose
That sifts all the slinging dictates
And carry that kind embrace
With certain truths and certain security
In the melting pot of basic freedoms
And echo the dreams of their voices

And grant them their laughin’ voices
With honest and powerful purpose
And hide the unfair dictates
With cool hearts that offer empty embraces
And shed the land of insecurity
And breed the dreams of fair freedoms

Dreamers with those freedom speaking voices
With power of purpose to dismiss cruel dictates
And all embrace signs of stability and security
