The African poetic royal blood flows within her. She carries African proverbs in her DNA. Her verses are simple but deep. Okpeh carries the love for Africa and its people in her bosom .Her pen is a smoking mouth speaking of African cradles and Africa’s ancient philosophies. Star is a brightening star .The granddaughter of legendary Nzinga and in her creative soul lives the spirit of Nefertiti. I doubt again if she is not related to the Zimbabwean goddess of Chimurenga, Nehanda . I fore see a great writer and refined poet in the gifted sister . An ardent reader and keen observer of her society , a child of God . Aluta Continua – Mbizo Chirasha ( Chief Editor ofWOMAWORDS LITERARY PRESS)
IT WAS IN AFRICA
It was in Africa that we first began to hear the Negro speak of Rivers.
It was in Africa far long ago that Zambezi told the farmers blessing in years to come.
It was in Africa that our Fathers understood the mystery of the land And Nature.
It was in Africa that songs were heard by night.
Love to brighten the light.
It was in Africa that my mother first saw the label of Woman between her thighs.
It was in Africa my brothers learnt to talk. To dance and follow after the waist of the Tapper’s daughter.
It was in Africa.
In Africa it all began.
…. In being a writer one has to learn between the universe and words. The unknown connection that makes us communicators of hope, life, spirits and soul.
